Yeap! Sounds to me you may be right. I feel sick and confused/faint then cold and then the hot flush comes and i'm very thirsty. As that eases i get pins and needles though the body. If i'm unwell the intensity and fequency increases.I understand you feeling scared because it is very intense but remaing calm is good. I find a hand fan very useful and there are meds to help. Dressing in light layers so you can strip also helps. Each persons experience can be different. I would still get it checked out by a dr as 39 is young for menopause. Take care. Hugggsss

That is not what happens to me, but I'm sure everybody experience this differently. I feel the top 1/2 of me gets hot, and I begin sweating. Even if I'm cold, this can happen. Try taking black cohash and see if this helps.

What you are describing sounds more like anxiety to me. I've had both problems and anxiety fits your description better. For me hot flashes are more upper body experiences and involve heat and sweating around the chest and face. Anxiety attacks are more of a whole body experience. I started my hot flashes and night sweats about your age but they were infrequent. I believe it differs very much from one person to another. Only a doctor could tell for certain.

I get anxiety attacks along with some of my hot flashes and night sweats and that what they feel like to me (what you're describing). I feel the "heat" of a hot flash in my face more than any other place. It sounds like you may be having some anxiety issues as well. Anxiety attacks and/or anxiousness can accompany peri-menopause. Have you talked with your gyno?

I get the hot flushes through the body. The reddness on my skin shows on my thights, chest, back and arms as i'm flushing and this gives me the sensation of whole body flush not just upper body. Becuase it is so intense i also feel faint. I do not suffer from anxiety but have had my overies removed so my dr said my symptoms would be more intense then normal menopause. What you described sounds very familar to me!!

Hi tpepin; I agree with SherryBab that everyone is different. I have the hot/cold flashes usually at night but sometimes thru the day too. I know for me mine is not anxiety, but I smile knowing it's only temporary (at least I hope so lol). I agree with others that you should get checked due to being 39. Keep us updated about your progress k? :)

hi t! my hot flashes are more intense when i get anxious. i started having them a bit at night, now i'm usually soaked, especially my face, which i use a band around my forhead to catch the sweat. the night drenches are bad and mine go from top to bottom. i keep a whick-type of shirt on my pillow case, yet i first get hot, then i freeze if the air hits me. i'm on black cohosh only due to being 49 years old.
i have never felt faint or nauseated, that sounds a little like an anxiety attack, of which i'm very prone to also. all of this will end for us someday when our hormones get back in order!

I agree with sensitive. My hot flashes are all upper body and I don't feel sick. Sounds like anxiety to me.

Yup sounds like me. I usually turn the heat down instead of up much to my family's dismay!
Considering its cold out at night where I am I should just wear less clothing to bed and leave the heat alone eh? Yup.

May be menopause but it does sound more like an anxiety attack. I agree with 'sensitive'...only a Doctor can tell. Either way Dr. can do something to help. Bless your heart. ((()))
