Our friend's daughter is on life support and has been for nearly two weeks. She is 16 years old. She has the most severe case of Meningitis, coupled with Waterhouse Friderichsen Syndrome. She is in hospital in Cyprus, as she contracted the disease in the last few days of her holiday, so the only updates we can get, are from her desperately distraught parents. From what we can understand, she has complete organ failure, including total adrenal failure and she has been undergoing treatment to improve her white blood cells; however, she has undergone a brain scan and there is no brain damage. I cannot find any information anywhere about complete organ failure and how this affects the recovery period. We are praying that she survives this dreadful disease, but medically, can she? Has anyone else miraculously come back from something this bad? Any information would be gratefully received.
