I know there has to be more people out there that are dealing with the after affects of meningitis/encephalitis. I care for my son who had it. Surely we as a small group can find something to talk about. Any comments are welcome. I don't even care if it doesn't relate to meningitis :)

" I know the feeling. I joined the Pancreatic Cancer group but most of us wind up in the Bereavement Group from there but I always go back to check on new members and try to keep communication open. I did join this group because of West Nile virus. If you are still around maybe we can talk and keep this group going. "

" Hi! I'm new to the group. Meningitis sucks!!! I got it twice, and I am praying that I never get it again. It triggered a latent autoimmune disease and now I'm also suffering with Grave's disease. I get horrible migraine headaches that start at the back of my head, and then travel into my spine and the rest of my head.
I'm so sorry that your little one had it. Is he feeling better? I am a year along from my last viral meningitis outbreak, and I'm doing better, but still not 100%. How long does it take before we get back to normal? "

" Like i've said, I haven't had meningitis, I take care of my son. It seems migraines are a very common after effect. A friend of mine also has horrible headaches and he was just told that they are caused by damaged nerve endings. he just started a new medication for it. hope it helps him "

" I was diagnosed with viral meningitis in September 2007. Since my diagnosis I have been struggling with chronic headaches. I went to my Neurologist and was put on Topomax and had no relief, I also tried the chiropractor and acupuncture with no success in alleviating the pain. I have a friend who suggested Cranial Sacral Therapy. I thought it was a little far fetched by you get to a point where you’re so desperate you will try anything right? So I went. I have been to CST four times now and I have been headache free for over three weeks!
I'm not sure if it will work for everyone, but I just wanted to pass on something that seems to have worked for me. "

" Glad to see some posts here. I have had 2 round with aseptic viral meninghtis. We had linked it back to EP injections I had for my back. 10 years apart. I would have never had the last shot in Nov. if I knew I would be back in the hospital with this god awful condition. I've been told that I need to be careful not to have any more injections to the back and that I can get it again. Wow now I have a pain in the back and a new worry. "

" Hi, I too have a little one who had meningitis. Due the scaring the infection left on her brain she has had to endure many surgeries as well as having CP and a seizure
disorder.
What type of meningitis did your little one have? I hope he is doing well.:) "
