I have been told that increasing your physical activity should lessen the symptoms related to menieres. Although, i have been told i dont have typical menieres, im frequently lightheaded and currently my hearing on the left have started to fluctuate again along with similar feeling of pressure. THis came about due to increased activity. The question is what is your experience with increasing activity and the likelihood of increased symptomatic episodes.

" Hi, I was given a series of excersises to do for the menieres - dont know if its different here in the UK. Strange excersises. I also, was told to go back to Pilates as with that your head is often bent over and down, almost causing a dizziness - apparently you are supposed to try and get used to it - that seems to be what was suggested. I do think that you do have to keep going - moving etc., sometimes, when the pressure is bad in my head I feel just like lying down, I have to force myself to even get up and go to work, but then it does start to improve. Sometimes, not always, if its a bad attack, then you cant move at all. Do you take medication? I take Serc and water tablets -

" I used serc, seems to help a bit. I use it sparingly..I dont want my system to get used to it..Using it as preventative med...dont want to have a big attack. The first one was too much i lost most of my stamina and it took years to recover. "

Well, you know I play tennis again now, but before my surgery when all the attacks were happening, I would play on a good day and it wouldn't be long after that I would have an attack. So I think if the exercise is overdone and too competitive, there is a good possibilty of symptoms. But I think moderate walking daily can do wonders for both your physical and mental health. Play soft my man. "

" Yes, I agree with the walking. Had a bad- bad morning, was up very early - then went walking the dog (BOY MY DOG GETS A LOT OF WALKS THESE DAYS) anyway, it is soothing somehow and it does give a different focus - its hard to get your mind of the pressure when its bad though, specially if you think the vertigo might strike - I am always worried that someone will see me out looking drunk as I cant move when it happens. Then how do I get home - I did once manage to drive when an attack had started - really really stupid - but I was in a panick. Dont know how I got home, would neve do that again - stupid. "

" When I was much much younger and I would be doing just about any form of physical activity wheather is be gym or just outside with my friends, the increased heart rate would often trigger symptoms...and even now since I am older that happens sometimes...but I am not sure if it is because gym class always kinda made me nurvouse, and because I thought it was the physical activity that was making me dizzy then I would get nurvous doing alot of different physical activities or what...but when I was younger, physical activity usually made me feel a lil worse, as I got older, it kind of eased up a bit, but I can't excercise when I am already feeling badly. "

" I have to admit to myself that likely a combination of things have got to be making the symptoms worst. THe neck for most of us is sensitive and any physical activity that strain the neck or spine area would likely aggravate the symptoms. But i agree that eventually we need to continue with some sort of physical activity and overtime increase our tolerance. "
