The gal who's started the neuropathy group made a comment about the brain sending mixed messages...so I've been relearning what our brain does and the role it plays in balance, hearing, etc. I'm wondering if our meniere's comes from some like faulty wiring in the brain?
Anyone else have any comments? Posted on 05/12/08, 10:05 pm |

I have read most everyone diagnosis and yes we are all different I have tried karen what you have and it was worse for me as well. Even had suggestions of Chiropractor. That was the worst of them all. What is a shame is I have run out of funds to keep being tested poked and proded to find no one can say what is wrong. Except you have Meniere's and Tinnitus. My dr. didn't say it was either just the effects of them both with vertigo. They even said I was having some minor seizures. Someone out there has to hear our story and someone has to be there as our angel so we can get some relief and not the "let's try this drug" or "let's try this treatment." I have suffered from both of these since May of 2004 and some days are truely a challange.

I so agree with CS' post. I think this disease is minimized by the doctors as it has become very debilitating for me, costing me my hearing and my career:( Yet Long term social security disability doesn't seem to understand why I can't get another job? Yep, company's are just lined up wanting to hire an over 50 woman who can't hear, and can fall over at any time!
If you've got a story about getting disability or workers' comp, check out my group.

I agree with CS post as well. First I had to go through all the tests to rule out MS. Then when that came back normal, go through all the tests for Meniere's. Now the docs say it is probably Meniere's. Lets try this drug and that drug. Lets try steroid injections and that is a 50/50 chance. There are good days and then bad days but you never know when the bad day is going to happen. It kind of makes it hard to make plans or get excited by future plans.
