Hi, about nine months ago I experienced a bout of lightheadedness while shopping. I sat down but after that didn’t feel to good. Within a day or two I was feeling unstable and much like I was on a boat. When I turned I would feel dizzy and lightheaded. I went to see my Internist and she tried various things including blood pressure medicine. My blood pressure has been a bit high. My blood tests were normal. She referred me to a neurologist who referred me to an ENT who specializes in ear problems and dizziness. After a series of hearing and balance tests I was diagnosed with Meniere’s Disease. He told me to watch my salt and put me on a diuretic, which helped my blood pressure. He also told me to get EarVite, Vitamins formulated to promote ear health. Well, I am feeling better but still feeling light headed and have to be so careful about quick turns. I am still rather uncomfortable. I am seeing my doctors but feel that they are not coming up with anything substantial. I have not had tinnitus and only once the the room spin and that was after turning in bed and it was brief. Any suggestions?

" When your tinitus gets to be overwhelming and is usually a sign of a coming vertigo attack, and when this happens more than at least 4 times a week, for about a year, THEN you know you have it bad. But it could take awhile to get to that point. I had my right vestibular nerve destroyed with low dose gentamycin first on Jan 17th and then on Feb 14th. Since then I have had no vertigo, no matter how loud the inner noises get. And now I can eat salt without assuring myself that it will cause a vertigo attack. "

" Where can you get EarVite? I tried googling it, and none of the sites had any info. "

" yes. i also have maniere's and have been seeing a homeopathist and she has helped me to turn my life around. I had awful bouts with the vertigo and was dizzy a lot and had awful ringing.. now i only experience those things if I do not follow my plan. So, my advice is to make an appt. to see a somebody who practices homeopathy. they use vitamins and naurtal remedies to help your body heal itslef!!! I too saw an ent specialist and he put me on a med that made me dizzy. that is when I called a homepathist and i have not gone back too my ent specialist!!!!! Good luck to you. amny questions please feel free to ask away. I do take cocclus 30c(the 30c is the strength), a natural remedy by boiron that you get at a natural food store that controls the dizziness and vertigo. so at the very least go get that and take a couple of doses(four granules under tongue and let dissolve) one dose about every half hour and then let it work. that should help you out with the whole turning your head and getting dizzy problemn!!!! good luck to you and pleas "

" I've noticed a rash of postings from unfortunate new members to this club. I've had meniere's for many years now, and have been through the various medications mentioned. Lasix worked the best, actually felt normal for several months, but it returned eventually. Having had the years into this all I can say is it changes. I went through a 2 year period where it almost disappeared (no vertigo, ringing was light). These days the vertigo can hit anytime, but for a split second only, then it calms down. Tennitis is another story, some days terrible, some tolerable. I've learned to deal with it (what else can I do really). I find that vigorous shaking of my head relieves the vertigo, meclizine also helps, and avoid the salt, coffee and get a good nights sleep. "
