hi, i've been on SSI and SSDI for 18 months now. i am getting married in May. just feeling a little scared about how this will affect my benefits. i HAVE to have the medical, if nothing else.

my fiance' works for a small family business and doesn't have a very good benefit package at present.

thanks..i'd love to hear from others who have gotten married after having been on disability.

" there is a chance you might not loose it. If both of your incomes are not over the limit. If you are you will loose it. They might put you on short term transitional Medicaid. You best bet is to take his medical insurance as it will be much harder and costly to get one on your own. And if it does not cover certain things inform Medicaid of this and they might let you keep it for those things until your insurance does cover it. "

" getting married will not be a good thing if you 2 can't afford to be without the added income. my friends got married she did not lose her income but they she gets alot less money now because she is paid on how much he makes per month which is not much , I also know people that were totaly cut off of it because the spouse is expected to take care of the other , it's better to just live together if he doesn't make much money n does not have good medical benefits.
