This is not a Diskussion, but I was not sure where to post this.
In the communitie of MSUD under TREATMENT, it is listed, that there is no Treatment. But there ia Treatment! MSUD is a Genetic Disease that can not be cured as of yet, but it is treateble, so that adults and children affected with it can live a pretty normal life. My son now 21 years old is on a Low Protein Diet for Life, because he can only metabolize a certain amount of protein that comes from food or drink. To make up for that, he has to take a Medical Food, which is actually a drink when it gets mixed. Depending of which Type of MSUD someone has, they might need to have less of the regular Protein and more of the artificial. I thought this is important to mention. that there is no cure, but there is Treatment, much like, for example, Diabetes. Posted on 02/18/07, 04:02 pm |

Schmotti is correct. I have a 6 year old and a 1 year with MSUD. It is a very unknown condition that can be "maintained" by treatment and diet but not cured, minus a liver transplant. In both my children's short lives, they have been through more than most adults - medical wise. I just continue to put my faith in god's hands that will pull us through.
