Eye Doc Appointment Today

Today I go in for my checkup. They will pump me full of dye and take photos of my retinas. Say a little prayer that they find no new leakages in my affected eye and nothing in my good eye.
When I was there six weeks ago they said that my retinas are getting very thin and I should be on a look out for floaters. If I were to see them I should come in right away because it ment that my retinas were detaching. Another thing to worry about. Posted on 02/15/08, 08:02 am |

Let us know how you do. Those damn photos they take, it makes me wonder if that extreme light isn't harmful, but I guess not, cause they sure seem to use it a lot.
Not a pleasant experience to repeatedly go through is it?

I dont have MD, but I do have a LOT of floaters, which turned out to be inflamed due to iritis. I am still very confused, as I am in the middle of being assessed - have had one steroid injection to bring down the inflammation. They did say, colormeblu, that there was a possibility of retinal detachment but that was very faint. A different thing maybe...the floaters havnt gone though, yet ... a check in six weeks..wish it was before then really

My first appointment was canceled and pushed up to yesterday. Yes the injection and the bright light is not pleasant when they take the photos but I am always fascinated of how the pictures turn out.
Anyhow the new is not all to great. I have a new lesion that has begun to leak. So now I have to make a choice of having another laser treatment or the injection treatment of Avastin. Both have their pros and cons. I have had laser twice back in 2003. Both cold laser and hot. The downfall of laser is that there is scaring and where that is you do not get that sight back, so now I have a large gray spot in the center of my vision. The downfall of Avastin is that there is a chance of having retina detachment or total eye sight loss. The chances are small but still there and I am super nearsighted so that makes my chances higher than normal. The good news is that my good eye has been unaffected so I am happy about that. Will have to decide on which treatment to go for and I go back to the doctors in 1 month.

Thanks for letting us know and sharing your experience. It's tough to make that decision and I don't think there is any way to know which is the right way to go. Well, you have a month to make the decision ... keep us informed.

really glad this procedure is over for you - but sorry you have some more bleeding. The eyes are so sensitive, there are so often decisions to make, and risks. Not nice..:(....take care...Cathrynn
