on monday evening severe pain started in my left leg. it is a deep pain all through my leg, mainly thigh and calf and also the sensation of what i think maybe muscle spams(very painful). tuesday morning there was a large bruise on my calf just below my knee. by that afternoon i was at my doctors office, he sent me for emergency blood work and a venous doppler on my leg which i had done yesterday. this morning i go for results. does anyone know if dvt happens with uctd? has anyone had this experience? i just hope it is spasms and they can treat it quickly, the pain is starting to get to me. spasms can occur with uctd, right?

" I think most autoimmune disorders can cause blood clotting disorders as well as inflammation. Both of these are present in phlebitis. Good Luck! "

" I had a blood clot caused by injury with MCTD a likely contributing factor... my platelet count is a bit high, slightly outside of normal, and that probably caused abnormal blood chemistry at the spot where one of my veins got twisted slightly in a skiing accident.

Visible bruise could be a hematoma of some kind. If you had a DVT, it is unlikely they would have let you leave the hospital. After my sonogram, I got to the waiting room and there was a wheelchair waiting for me-- I was going upstairs overnight, no arguments allowed, I couldn't even call my wife for a few hours.

Not a guarantee, of course-- if it's a small clot, maybe the protocol is different. Hope the pain eases up and it turns out to be a spasm that can be treated quickly....
