Hi, I'm new to this group. I am the mother of one son with 47XXY Karyotype. He was diagnosed when he was 12 because we had him tested for EVERYTHING since he had some very significant issues while in Middle School, with peer relationships, socializing, and learning disabilities. He was very thin and very tall for his age, but, I noticed his height was all legs, his torso was normal in height.

I have no specific questions right now, I just found this group from another DS group I belong to, and I joined so that I can offer support, and gain inforamtion to continue to help my son.

He is 30 years old, but not as mature as most his age. But, good news is, it doesn't stand out as much now as when he was in school, the imaturity I mean.

He is not on Testosterone replacement, but he is not on any insurance plan either. He went through a very dificult time maintaining employment and had like 14 jobs in one year. He can 'sell' himself as able to build a skyscraper, but, when it's time to do the job, much of the intricacies of the work assignment, he has trouble with. I know this isn't true of everyone with KS.

Anyway, glad to have found your group!

" I am a Klinefelters patient with the 47xxy kayotype as well. The same trials that your son is going through I went through the exact same thing in school especially with my peers. I am all legs and during school years I was very thin, but since then I have gained lots of weight like 100 pounds in which now I am struggling to get off even when excersising and eating healthy. There are lots of things that I have gone through that probably relates to your son. "
