I have meduallary sponge kidney disease. Both of my kidneys are full of stones, too many to count, I have nephrocalcinosis and chronic infection as well..., and IC.

I just wondered if there are any other MSK patients out there?

" Hi Shelly

I have been reading up on MSK and wondered how you were diagnosed.

I too have been plagued with infections and stones. I was really worried after seeing my last xray as one of my kidney has loads of little stones and then the other has one big stone that the surgeon couldnt removed and told me I would probally have it for life. "

" MSK is usually diagnoised with an IVP. We MSKer's ususally have lots of little stones deep in the medulla, or in other words deep in the collecting systems not where most people have them. If you have a stone too large to pass it supposedly can sit in your kidney and not bother you for ever...,i have 4 larger stones, 2 in each kidney that have been there for about 10 years.

If you have lots of little stones, have the done a 24 hour urine to find out why?
That can tell if you are hyprcalcuria which I just learned I am. There are medications that can put you on to prevent stones from forming once they know why you form them!

Hope that answers your questions.
