Stones in both kidneys

I spent Easter Sunday and part of Monday in the hospital loaded with morphine for stones in both kidneys. They gave my 5 bags of I.V. fluid and I still have the stones. They won't pass and I am in constant pain ranging from a 3 - 10 at any point of the day. The Urologist says they are to small to do Lithotripsy (blasting). I am now taking vicodin and ready to switch to percocet for the pain. I hate taking the pain pills but I hate the pain even more. I was only able to work 8 hours this past week and that is the most frustrating part to me. Does any one have any suggestions that might help make these stones pass?

" I don't know if this has any validity. I tried the "bump and jump" method. Just type it in your search engine. It seemed to help but I can't be sure. It may have sped up the time it took to pass. "

" Thank you!!!! I read the article and book marked it for when the stones decide to enter the ureters. For now they are staying in the kidneys. Let's hope they decide not to become squaters and stay to long. haha "

" I am surprised that they haven't gone in and removed them surgically if they're so painful! Mine were stuck in both ureters (not totally blocking things, thankfully), and the doctor was able to go in through my bladder and laser them (I think that's what he did). I hope yours pass soon! "

" The urologist said the stones are not "big" enough to remove surgically. Last night I was back in the E.R. again. This time they gave me demerol for the pain and I was able to go 14 hours pain free. Sure felt good while it lasted!!! The urologist did say there is a seven day procedure they can do to disolve the stones but it is extremely uncomfortable and they would have to leave in tubes and wires from my urethra to my kidneys for an entire week. I told him NO WAY!! At this point all I can do is suffer the pain until they get big enough to pass. "

" When they did the surgical removal of my stones, they did leave some sort of tubes and wires in for almost a week (sometimes they only have to leave them in for a few days, sometimes longer). It was the worst part of it all, especially since I managed to accidentally pull on one of the strings... which made me constantly run to the bathroom. Constantly felt like I had to urinate! My advice for you, if they do wind up doing the procedure, is to make sure to carefully tape the strings to your thighs (more than they already are) with medical/first aid tape and be very careful not to catch them when wiping, etc. If I'd known that, my experience would have been much better. In any case, being pain-free was worth all the running to the bathroom! ;-) "

" Hi i get kidney stones constantly... My stones are made of Uric Acid and currently i have a 7 mm stone that we are trying to use meds to dissolve it.. So far its helping just slow process My stone started at 9mm and now is 7mm .. I do know that if your stone is 4mm or smaller they usually do not do Surgery becasue your ureter tube is 4mm and they usually wait to see if it will pass .. I have already done two surgerys for these stones and did not want another one .. In 2004 did Lithotripsy and in 2007 had the Laser and then had a stent in me for 6 days .. Stones are very very painful especially when they start moving around.. I also have PKD polycystic kidney disease which i have well over a 100 cyst in both kidneys .. Good Luck hope this helps Do you know what kind of stone yours is?? Drink lots of WATER.. Strain your urine so u are sure that when it passes you can give to doc to test it and see what kind it is and what might be casuing them .. I have 2 more on my other side as well as the 7mm and told doc No more surgery .. "

" My stones in 2004 were calcium oxalate. The stones I have now are to small to pick up on a KUB and the urologist said they are just floating around in the kidneys and most likely won't enter the ureters for quite some time. His last words to me were, "I will see you in a year." I about pulled my hair out and screamed!!!!! "

" My friend had 11 stones in her body at once. I didn't like her anymore she was unpleasant to be around and yes I know it was due to the pain she had. Luckily we heard about Senate Document #264 dated back in the 30ties. Have you heard of this document and the info it contains? "

" No I have not heard of this Senate Document but I am very happy to report I passed the stone in the right kidney yesterday, 4/17, at 11am!!!! Once the stone entered the ureter (yes I felt it) it took 3 hours to come completely out of my body. I only hope when the left stone decides to move it goes just as quick. This in between pain is the real problem. "

" I'm so glad you passed one of the stones and hopefully the other will go away soon. If you decide you would like to read the Senate Doc let me know and I'll furnish the website for you. "
