Hi,
I don't have much pain per se but a lot of sensations and heaviness in my lower left side for the past year. My gastro is putting me on Dicetel to see if it is IBS but it has lactose and made the IBS-C worse. I do have a parasite which is definitely the source of all of this but it does get me worried. I'm going to ask for a colonoscopy but in the meantime does anyone else get heaviness in the lower left side? Is it trapped gas, constipation, divericulitis, distended colon? I saw an x-ray of someone's colon that was distended and constricted like crazy, it didn't look like the nice anatomical drawings you see in medical books! Thanks! Posted on 07/20/08, 02:07 pm |

the thing with the left hand side is that that where your large colon enters the rectum (ready for u to go the loo) so alot of people get the pain and heaviness there - i get it on the rigth hand side where the small bowel hits the large bowel and then if i going to have a really bad ibs diareah attack i get severe pain on the left - but once i been loo its ok !! its dif for everyone but i would say this is cause ur constipated or u have direah coming (which u will know abou within a couple of hours if that )
