Last week, I was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, as well as, IBS. I have no idea where to start with the IBS! I've always had trouble, but I thought it was part of my Acid Reflux. Now that I know, I'm clueless of what to do about it. I was prescribed Bentyl, but I wasn't given any information on it. This was in the ER, by the way...I don't suppose I can entirely blame the ER doc, as it's their job to get people in and out or transferred, as quickly as possible.
I have no insurance, and I don't have a regular doctor. Does anyone have any advice on what steps I should take to get this taken care of?

" i also have ibs..it is mostly related to food allergies...everyone is different...i think most people can't eat. fried foods, caffeine, some red meat and dairy products...the bentyl is a good med for spams...there i ibs-diarrhea or ibs-cons. so it is different meds/things for each....there is a ibs web site it has very good advice...i use a heating pad when the pain is bad...eat little meals more often..french bread is good..potatoes, oats, rice, turkey, fish and chicken..are usually safe but it depends on your body..nothing spicy..there is good advice on this site also..usually when i eat a food and it is 1 i can't eat i know it almost as soon as it gets to my stomach...i am at the end of a 3 month flair up..i am so much better but from not eating and the diarrhea i am still very weak...it did take a toll on my body..but the good news it is manageable and a patient take charge issue...listen to your body and it will tell you what to and what not to eat.... "

" Thanks for the advice! I guess I've got the one with constipation. And, OMG...caffeine will be a BIG prob! It's always messed with my acid reflux, but I've learned to live with it. I MUST have my coffee! lol "

" maybe try switching to natural caffeine's like L-Taurine, L-Glutamine, and L-Carnitine. My morning vitamin contains those, since regular caffeine makes me feel icky. "
