Hello all,, I'm glad that I found this group,,,,I didnt think I'd ever need to be in this situation again,,,but lifes full of suprizes. I had insomnia real bad,,when I was 23,,,,and now,,I'm 47 and it came back. I know what triggered it this time,,,an arguement with my wife,,that went on for days. I found that my anxiety med just wasnt working,,I use to could take 1 klonopin and go to sleep,,,but now,,I've tried,,1 klonopin 2mgs,,1 ativan 1mgs,,and 1 lunesta,,,,,,and nothing,,,no sleep. So it made it back into my life,,,and I hated it so much back then,,and now I Hate it even more...When I lay down,,its as if someone is choking me,,,so I'm Wide awake,,,,while the wife sleeps soundly...I have an appointment this Friday,,but I dont think I can wait,,,,but in all reality,,I'm lost,,,,I dont know who to go to,,,,or what they can do...My brother passed away back in april,,and 2 weeks later my wife started finding little things about me to argue about,,,and its just continued on, I will read some of the postings,,to see if I can learn more about what I can do,,,,I'm totally lost,,and don't know where or who to turn to. Thanks for reading,,and sorry if theres any typos. For those of you who are searching for rest,,,I do wish you all the best.

" hey man, sorry to hear your story. i too have gone through a similar time and i hate it. i am 22 and have been a chronic insomniac for nearly 4 years. i'm so fed up with it that i'm making a film about insomnia and how it affects people's lives and how it can be overcome. i'm chatting to insomniacs all over the world to see what they get up to at night, how they cope , if they can lead a successful life and i'd love to hear anyhting you have to say. things like how much sleep on average you might get per night, what kinds of things you do to pass the time, if its got you into trouble as it has me lots of times! if it has led to drink and drugs, obviously this will all be confidential. you'd be helping me to make a tool that might help other sufferrers so i'd be glad for anything. meditaion and lucid dreaming have helped me at times over the years, you should look that up. thanks mate

" Hi. My insomnia began in childhood. It comes and goes. Right now it is in full force. I'm averaging 2 -3 hours per 24 hour period for sleep and really only a portion of that is "deep" sleep. I can take a whack of benzos or Ambien/Lunesta/etc too and still, nada. Your name "Anxious Texan" makes me wonder if there is an anxiety component involved? There sure is for me... worry can be one of my biggest hindrances to falling / staying asleep. "

" As I mentioned in my previous posts, I have given up on ALL drugs. Like you I have tried Klonopin and Ativan and several other meds and they do not work!! They are very addictive and have side effects. It sounds like you are going through a very difficult time right now especially with the recent passing of your brother. Stress and anxiety are major causes of insomnia.(And sleepless nights cause more anixety (a catch 22) Try to take "one day at a time" and make the best of each day. You will eventually get sooo tired and you will be able to sleep. I hope things get better for you soon. "
