" Reta - I tried to send you a message but I'm new and don't know if it was sent. I feel your pain and I also began having sleeping problems at around 13 years of age, too. Ironic - I have NEVER met anyone else like me. Then again, I try to hide my sleep issues. I find it embarrassing that I need so many pills to sleep. Sleep seems so "natural".

One post (was it yours?) mentioned starting to drift off and then WHAM an adrenaline rush jars them from falling off into sleep. That summed me up when I was not on meds.

I would LOVE to be off meds. I see you went off them recently. How are you doing and why are you off meds? Were the sidea affects horrible? "

" I've been replacing my ambien CR with Valerian. It's not a tranquilizer so it doesn't put you to sleep, but once you're asleep it brings your sleep level down to a 4. That's my problem...not a deep sleeper. Tryptophan is supposed to make you sleepy, so I don't know if you wanna look into that, maybe.
Well... welcome and I'm around if you have any questions! "

" Thanks for the responses. I have done the tryptophan..before they took it off the market years ago...a bad batch.. and it worked. I'm not sure if you can get anything like it now. I have used valarian., passionflower, and hops. Over the years I have ask every person I run into.. how they sleep...or what do you do to sleep or what do you take....I could write a book. And yes I had the adrenilin rushes just as I get ready to drop off. I have had a couple people message and been told to drop the caffine. That is so hard when you live in a fog like we do. I do only try to have coffee in the morning and just drag the rest of the day...Reta "
