I KNEW IT!!!

I KNEW there was something more going on! I picked up all my medical records today for our 2nd opinion appointments and included were the tests I requested last week. On the summary from the appointment with RE last week she noted that "if only for peace of mind she was ordering the tests at my request." Well, today I read the reports and one page had several flags on it!!!

I also really felt that our embryos were trying to implant which would explain the extreme cramping about two days after a 3 day transfer that lasted for about two days and then gone.

I am not positive about all the test results but I think one is positive for Lupus Anticoagulant, and I know there is Activated Protein C Resistance (APCR) and Protein S deficiency.

Does anyone have any more insight to these things?

" I really hope that you are able to find answers that you are looking for. I have learned that it is so important that we are on top of what we are doing.

Good luck! "

" I don't know anything about those things but I am so glad that you pushed for the tests and that maybe they can find a reason/answer and things can finally move forward! It is interesting that during this IF process we are "happy/relieved" when there is something "wrong"...almost seems ironic. At least when there is something "wrong" they can work to fix it! I hope you find the answers about the latest test results. Thinking of you (and good for you for listening to your gut!) "

" I am now a huge believer in the importance of 2nd - and 3rd - opinions as well as taking care of your own medical care! No one else is as invested in the outcome! Stick with it . . . and I hope you'll get positive news and a solid, new plan at your upcoming appointment! "

" UPDATE: I talked with the nurse but the doctor is out until Friday. Based on what she saw (pathology part is not back yet) I would need blood thinners other then aspirin all the time. She said I would probably have to do an injection every day. She also said something about antibodies and attacking itself. So basically my body is attacking itself and it is attacking the embryos :-(
She also said it is genetic (or at least part of what she was telling me about)

I should know more on Friday when the doctor is back. I just can't believe that they were ready to move forward with a 5th cycle. What if I had not said I wanted these tests??? Not to mention what it means for me other then fertility stuff... "

" I hope my reply is not too late...but I have a Protein C and S deficiency. That means I am prone to clotting. The blood clots quicker than most people. When I got pregnant, for the 12th time, with my son the specialist said that if I did not take Heparin, a blood thinner, the likely-hood of carrying the pregnancy would be almost 20%. So, I started the injections, 2x daily, and ta-daa, we had our first baby.
I have not done injections for almost a year now and I have not been able to hold a pregnancy either. I was prego last Oct but lost it quickly. Had I been on the Heparin it might have been a different story. I cannot live in the past.
The dr started the Heparin at a half cc 2x daily then I was moved up to 1cc 2x daily. You have to be very careful though, if you get cut, an accident or etc., you must tell the treating doc that you are on Heparin.
The worst part of it was that I bruised easily and my belly always looked like I was beat up.
It made it so I could have a baby, so I was willing to do anything, to go to any length.
I hope this helps. Try not to read into what the other doc's opinions are, you'll just drive yourself crazy proving you are right.
Best of luck and baby dust. "
