i just can't help but blame myself for our infertility. maybe its the onset of af that is making me feel depressed or whatever, but how can i not blame myself? i have had two pregnancies since we started ttc both of which ended in mc....the doc thinks they know why i mc (mutated gene thing), but it still takes FOREVER for me to get pregnant in the first place and all i think about is maybe its me....maybe its because i need to lose 15 lbs? maybe its because i have too much sugar in my diet? maybe its because i enjoy a glass of wine with dinner now and again? maybe its because i don't eat enough vegetables? i mean these are the thoughts that are floating in and out of my thoughts all the time. i know i did not cause the mc's but maybe i am not doing all i can to actually make my body ready for pregnancy? i guess i just needed to vent.
we are working on getting ready to start IUI #2 next week and i am crossing my fingers that maybe i will not get af at all next week, but that seems highly unlikely for us.....i am done venting now. thanks for listening ladies, you are my sanity through all this! Posted on 06/19/08, 07:06 pm |

I know how you feel, every month when AF comes I start thinking of all the things I should have done... all the things I didn't do etc...

I know, I read a lot of things, but my RE has confirmed that our few problems are not my fault. Try not to blame yourself, and good luck on your IUI!

Have they tested for the mutated gene thing? I understand your feelings. When things are wrong we (as humans) feel we need to blame someone or something. But it is not your fault, it is just the way it is. It is something you only have so much control over. I don't think any of the reasons you noted are causing the IF or MC. Try not to be so hard on yourself. I know it is not an easy thing to do, but try. If you could make yourself get pregnant then you would. So many things in life are out of our control and IF is usually included.

after mc #2's blood work i was diagnosed with "MTHFR Polymorphism" which they believe is why i am having the mc's. since the diagnosis though i have not gotten pregnant again which is so frustrating to me.

Isn't crazy what we put ourselves through? The mental what if's and punishment we silently swish around in our heads everyday. In an odd way, it's nice to know I'm not the only one who puts myself through this...I think its only human to want to find a reason why. I mean, isn't that one of the first questions kids ask? Why this? Or why that?
The truth is there is no answer and it only defeats your spirit to think it's something you are or are not doing. You are doing everything you can do and you need to celebrate and give yourself credit for that.
