So now that I'm on the Actos and my labs indicate my body is responding to the metformin I want to try to track my basal body temp to see if I am ovulating.

My question is, do I have to buy the "basal" thermometer, or will any thermometer do? I know the basal one keeps track of your temps, etc. but is that the only difference?

Just curious... Thanks!

" You really need a basal thermometer--- it is much more accurate because it reads to the hundredth rather than the tenth of a degree. "

" Also, try to take it the same time each morning and also don't move much beofre you take it. Try to keep physical activity to a minimum until you take the temp. Good luck to you "

" it gives you a reading to the 1 hundreth. it is kind of strange b/c most bbt charts only track thru 1 tenth. also, as soon as you wake up take your temp. don't get up or anything until you take the temp. also i find it works best when i wake up at the same time each morning. good luck! it's a pretty inexpensive way to track your ovulation.
