1st IUI Tomorrow; What to Expect?

I went in for my u/s today and I have between 4 & 6 mature follicles. I suspect it will end up being four because I don't think the 14.5 or 15 mm follies will be big enough. The other 4 are all over 18 though. So we're going our first IUI tomorrow. What's it like? I'm sure I'll be getting in the usual position with feet in stirrups but then what? After I've been inseminated, do I lie there for awhile or just get up and go? Does it feel weird when they are squirting the sperm into you? I would love any info!

" Hey CarrieDawn! The IUI is really nothing, it's just like a pap-smear. Feet in the stirrups like you said and then you really don't feel anything. It's over very quickly. It's almost humerous when I think about what they're doing it's like wham-bam thank-you ma'am. WHen they insert the catheter they always tell me I may feel some cramping but I just completed my 5th IUI and I've never felt any cramping - nothing at all actually. And then you lay there for 10 minutes for your cervix to close back up and the nurse comes in and tells you you can go. "

" Yes it is simple and easy. I insisted to lay down for 20 mins instead of 5 mins suggested by the nurse. Also I don't feel nothing afterwards. The only warning from the nurse is to stay away from the hot tub during the 2 ww. This makes me wonder how could I ever get pregnant this way..kidding. I will be on the way for a 3rd IUI some time next month.
Good luck to you CarrieDawn! "

" Hi! Wondering how it went for you! I had my first last week, it was nothing!! My husband stayed in the room, we joked around with the doctor... I'm a baby so I did squeeze his hand upon insertion of the cathader, but it was nothing! Over before I knew it. "

" It went really well! I was nervous for some reason but it was for nothing. My DH stayed in the waiting room with our son so I was in there alone. It just felt like a mild pap smear. I lied there for 15 minutes afterwards with my butt propped up in the air. My DH was not thrilled about doing his part but he got the job done quickly. I ovulated early yesterday morning so by now some of his 79 million sperm that were squirted into me have hopefuly met some of my eggs and are on their way to implant into my uterus. Hopefully the first IUI will be a success for both of us. "
