Premarin HRT

I am taking Premarin 0.625 mg. I have been taking it since 5 July 2007. Recently I have been having problems with a rash, which comes and goes in my hair, on my face and on my neck, it is itchy. I have been to see my GP and she said it could be the HRT. To carry on taking it for the time being, but if it gets any worse to let her know. She said I may need to come off the Premarin and go onto a different HRT tablet. Has any one else had this problem? Your advice would be appreciated.

" I've been on Premarin for over two years now, and have had no side effects. I work for a Dr. and have a medication reference book. It says Premarin is an estrogen and a rash is not one of the side effects. Progesterones, on the other hand, can cause rashes. That's not to say you can't be having a reaction to the Premarin, as there is a first for everything. But it seems unlikely. Any changes in detergents, fabric softeners, shampoos that could be causing problems? "

" I never had a rash but I took myself off the premarin because 1, I was on a very large dose(1.5mg) and 2, I heard so many bad things about premarin, like cancer for one and the risk is higher with the higher dose. I have not been on ant hormone theropy sense.good luck. "

" I was on that, but my DR took me off of it. I was gaining weight & all rashy. Ask the DR for Viville dot patch. They work great.
Good luck & email me , to let me know how it goes. I am on the 0.1 patch. "
