Hypothyroidism and hair falling out
Watch this

For the last year or so my hair has been falling out and feeling very dry. I went to doctor after doctor and they all said I was fine. They couldn't find anything wrong with me and told me to start using Rogaine! I went to another doctor and he did a full blood workup and that was when I was diagnosed with subclinical hypothyroidism. I recently started on Armour about 2 weeks ago. I've also been taking evening primrose oil capsules. What else can I do slow down or stop my hair from falling out? Also, when do you think I might start to see some results from the Armour?

" I would suggest taking an iron suppliement as well as a biotin supplement. It seemed to help me. "

" It is just awful losing so much hair, luckily I started with very thick hair, I have half as much now. I believe there is only one answer and that is to be fully medicated.
The friends I know from a thyroid forum say that their hair grew back (some say wavey too) as soon as they were better on full thyroid meds.

How much armour are you taking? are you increasing very slowly? It could take many months to reach your optimum dose, it has been a really long time for me and I am still having to be a patient patient. "

" your medication needs to be adjusted. Get to an endocrinologist. I've had all that & it didn't stop until i went to the specialist " and was put on two thyroid medications. "

" I had the thickest hair my hairs stylist had ever seen when I was young. As a matter of fact I used to wish my hair was thinner like my sisters. Be careful what you wish for!! I was diagnosed with hypothyroid about 10 years ago and many doctors told me my hair would come back when my tsh became normal. Several doctors and different medications later my hair is still very thin and is of a completely different texture. My newest doctor, and probably the best, told me that I most likely wont get my old hair back but shouldn't loose too much more. That has been the case for the most part. I wish I had my hair I once wished to go away!! "

" I have the same problem. The only that I’ve found that helps with the dryness was a deep conditioner that my hair stylist recommended. Nothing to stop the falling out yet though and the amount that falls out seems to change to for no reason. Some days I can easily get a good handful and others it’s just a couple of strands. It’s frustrating to say the least and makes me a little self conscious as well. "

" I've been taking iron supplements, evening primrose oil, and a multi- vitamin but honestly I have not noticed any difference. I am conditioning more too and still no huge difference.

Is there something else I should try? "
