I have a guy friend who was hyper and they killed his thyroid. He said he went from over energetic, weight loss, feelings of heart palpatations to the complete opposite.I watched him put on weight and get very sluggish even on hormone replacement. They say that anyone who is hyper will eventually end up hyper b/c you cant stay hyper as you probably know.

Yes. I have been dealing with it for over 20 years. You most likely will go hypo. Unfortunately I have had no relief. I just saw a link on this sight that may help us both in our searches to feel "normal".
I'm going to try to present it to my doctor and see how it goes. Please let me know how things work out for you too.

My sister is hyper and I am hypo. Her doc told her eventually her thyroid will just burn itself out. She will then need to take the same meds I am on. Maryinil... if you are hypo you I don't think you will ever be hyper unless you take to high of a dose of meds.

I had graves disease (extremely hyper) had RAI and now am hypo. Used to never put on weight and was always full of energy. Now am tired and have put on about 20kgs. Am not entirely happy with it but I suppose it's also due to the fact that I never had to watch what I eat and now do. It's an adjustment. It's the tiredness I can't seem to explain to ppl how it affects you. Some days I just really don't want to move because it's just too much. I really think I should see my doctor about it but just can't seem to get around to it.

hi
i haven't had RAI but I swing from hyper to hypo from Graves and Hashi's and i don't like the hypo either. The hypo has more fatigue.

My sister in law was hyper, and they killed her thyroid. It grew back! Now they have inserted a chemo pill inside of her gland to keep it from coming back. She had some hypo issues but has dealt with them successfully with meds.
