Public school indoctrination article

Although I agree with this article I know that there are those who have no choice as to having their children in public schools verses private or homeschooling. Some people can't make it on one income and both parents have to work. That is where I choose to live without many luxuries and live on the basics. We don't have a nice car or exspensive home like my friends do. My kids don't get everything they want. They have to work for the luxuries also. They appreciate everything they get. Even handmedowns. I do work and home school but I have found something that is able to let me do that. I thank the Lord for providing that.

My children are not socially isolated. But it takes effort. They have youth group. I am able to plug into many different events where there are kids their age. We have a co-op where 36 families teach and work together in areas that I might not be able to do well in with my children and it's so cheap working together because no one is out for the money. Once a week we have gym day, park day, movie night and usually there is a museum or field trip every other week. I have to say no so I can stay home and teach. Once a month we have a monthly meeting open to any home schooler parent. This offers resources to help and aide in homeschooling. We have a social time and then split up into 3 different areas you can choose from to help support you in a specific area.

If you are not in a large area that has things like this to offer, MAKE OPPORTUNITIES HAPPEN. Go somewhere for the day to get involved with others, volunteer at a nursing home, food pantry, church. Homeschool children are able to communicate and work with all ages where public school children spend there days around other children their age and the teachers and helpers are the only adults they interact with.

Homeschoolers are able to choose who they come in contact with. Children parrot what they see and hear. My daughter is a spitting image of my mouth, temper and may I say some very good qualities also. I don't want to have my children follow the leader right off the cliff.
But I also don't want them so sheltered that they go the opposite direction when they leave my house. I try to live in the balance of letting them experience life and see both sides so they are the ones choosing to live a good, strong healthy life.

Ok, now that I have aired my opinions. Enjoy this article and think what you may.

Making the exodus from public school indoctrination
by Cal Thomas

The government schools want to shape a child’s mind in ways that reflect a mostly liberal, humanistic worldview. This has implications for a child’s understanding of economics, foreign policy, American history and the size and purpose of government, in addition to what once was know as “traditional values.” It is about reflecting the worldview of the teachers unions, who are in the pocket of the Democratic Party. In other words, the Left uses public schools to produce the next generation of Democrats.
The tragedy is that too many conservative Christian, Republican parents who want their children to have a different worldview -- their own -- willingly participate in the destruction of their children’s minds by turning them over to a way of thinking that is antithetical to their beliefs. Parents who worship at conservative churches on Sunday willingly send their children to schools five days a week where what they are taught undermines what they learned in church and at home. They would never think of taking their kids to a church that teaches doctrines opposed to their beliefs, but they don’t give a second thought to doing the same thing by sending them to government schools. It makes no sense.
Mr. Gleason (a California minister who urges parents to take their children out of public schools) has found it difficult to start a fire among conservative Christians because apathy is like wet underbrush. But he is undeterred. He thinks that like those other fires with which California is familiar, the best time to get out is while you still can.
If there were an alternative to public schools that you could afford (such as private schools, Christian schools or home schooling), would you take your children out of public schools?
Please take the poll concerning public schools, then forward it to friends and family

" So what is it that you propose exactly? having religion present in schools? what's wrong with having a neutral ground to teach our children? Why should religion or political affiliation have anything to do with learning?! I went to public school and I didn't learn how to be an atheist there and I didn't learn how to be a democrat there... no teachers pushed liberal ideas down our throat (except for maybe tolerance and understanding) and there are very few schools that don't offer a bible class of some sort (we had one in middle school and high school). Heaven forbid we don't indoctrinate our children with religion and hate. Because teaching them to tolerate people is so much worse than teaching them to respect other religions, lifestyles, and views.

What is taught in schools that oppose right wing faith? Science? Math? I'm sorry if facts contradict you, but to take facts away from children and instead insert religious belief breeds ignorance and a lack of basic understanding of the world around them.

When I decided to homeschool I came across so many people who asked "so you're one of those religious nuts?"

I'm ashamed to be grouped in with those who want to take real knowledge and learning away from their children.

if you have a problem with what i said, message me personally as i usually don't come back to the same post multiple times.

God grant you the wisdom to give your kids facts and not myth. "

" I agree with the fundamental concepts described herein. IF a person wants to make a few sacrifices in order to ensure their children have a good, solid education as the parent sees it, I believe home schooling is the way to do it. This, in fact, is the very reason I want my children to be home schooled, if and when I finally have those blessings.

from the perspective of an atheist, I do not choose to have religion indoctrination as part of my child/ren's education, but I might very well take a period of time to teach about the different recorded religions, and show the good AND the bad that each has brought about, and what they all have in common. if my kids choose to be religious, that will certainly be their choice. in the mean time, I have available such values as were found in the Code of Chivalry to teach, which were very close to the bible's values but in some recorded instances didn't include the religious stuff. (History can be quite useful!)

aside from the religious connotations, I find your article to be inspiring and motivational. thank you for sharing, I'll start looking for homeschooling coops and options here in my area! "
