" I've always said it's harder to be the friend or family member of a person who has cancer than to actually have cancer.

The cancer patient's job is simple - to survive. The job of a friend or family member is much more complicated - to help make their life better.

Best thing you can do is to be there for her when possible and let her know that she has your support.

Best thing you can do for yourself is to be sure you're living your life. Don't let this become the one thing that defines who you are, good or bad.

A person I cared for deeply allowed her mother's cancer to ruin her own life. She stopped finding joy in the things she used to and basically stopped living. Don't let that happen to you. Take this as an excellent opportunity to find the joy in the littlest things.

Just don't forget how to live. "
