When I go off my Zyrtec, I hive the next day. They start with tiny bumps that itch. I then scratch ( forgetting naturally this is the wrong thing to do) and it spreads. You can see where I scratch raise up in bug bite like shapes and the lines from my nails raise up in welts.

If I stop scratching it will go down, but pops up in another location. For example it will hit my lower back, the spread to the tops of my thighs then end up at my ankles and feet.

My son is similar, but not as severe. He mostly gets watery eyes and then itchy skin with small welts where he will scratch.

I am from Georgia and have had this for 10 years.

" Mine sound very similar. Small bumps that turn to welts when I itch. I've had it since january and doctors have put me on all kinds of medications. THey are getting a little better, mostly because I dont itch as much anymore. My first break out was on my thighs and spread to my hips and the ones on my hips were so inflamed it was a three square inch welt on my hip. It hurt to wear jeans. It's releaving to know that there are others who have this, but its dissapointing to hear that no one seems to know how to get rid of it. "

" Sounds like mine too. I try not to take the zyrtec until I get the itching, but sometimes if it's happening every day, I take it twice a day. I believe mine are mostly due to my medications. I think they make me more prone to the itching etc. It's also a symptom of FM, which I have. I use a cortisone cream when it gets really bad. "

" Mine seem to get worse at night...I never know what I will wake up to...my entire body gets them. I have chosen to call in sick to work on the days that my face is swollen....my eye lids swell, my lips make me look like a duck billed platapus. I have no "triggers" the Doctors say it is a stress reaction. This condition ,in itself, causes me stress. I take H1 and H2 (histamine)blockers around the clock...and a leukotriene blocker (singular) with not one days relief. My sisters get acute hives and benadryl stoppes them. My nephiew takes that singular every day and has had a year of control. He tells me that if he forgets ato take it, his skin reminds him within few hours. If I find a med that stopps these f*&%^$n things, I will forget to breath befors I'll forget to take the remedy. T~ "
