I have a terrible reaction to ALL STATINs.. Muscle Cramps.
I have taken COQ10 as well, but it also causes pains.
FOr the past six months, I have been on OMACOR, it has helped by Trigliserides, but my cholesterol has RISEN from 210 to 320!!!
I like the suggestion of eating Dill Pickles and Flax seed.
thank you

hope the dill pickles and flax seed help you...i have a hard time to find anything in meds to help with that so i use this along with olive oil on vegies instead of oleo or butter taste good too or olive oil and red wine vinegare on salads and vegeis are good for cholestrol and for high sugars...
I think maybe some day the statin meds will be taken off market to many ppl getting bad sick from them and other complications.

I joined this community to share my experience with statins. I tried to take lipitor and I complained of leg cramps. Finally the doctor suggested not taking the lipitor and presto! the leg cramps stopped. I tried vytorin, LEG CRAMPS. I tried crestor, LEG CRAMPS. I'm going out now to buy some flax and fish oil? Is fish oil healthy? Thanks

I have only tried Zocor up to this point and it gave me horrible muscle cramps and really messed with my memory. Since then the doctor has put me on a low dose of Crestor(40 mg) and so far its been better.

I was on 10mil for a while and did find it brought muscle pain. I was just achy. My brother was on 40+mil and had terrible muscle pain, after 3 yrs he begged to try something else he was feeling 80+yers old at 27! We both were taking Lipitor.

Aha! I have been having TERRIBLE leg cramps at night and now I guess I know why . I started on simvastatin about 2 months ago and take it before going to bed. What is the long term affect?? My cholesterol level was only 205 but my GP put me on it anyway. I had lowered my numbers by changing my diet and thought it was close enough! I eat oatmeal with chopped walnuts every morning, no fried foods, etc.

ANYTIME you have leg cramps, call your doctor ASAP.. The cramps are a signal that the meds are not for you. I am unable to take any statin.

I have been on 20 mg. Lipitor for about 6 years now. At first I had leg and arm muscle oain but that only lasted a couple of weeks. I do have memory loss which I do not like. I just had blood work done and Dr. called and told me to take 40mg. Lipitor so I guess my cholestrol went up. It has been holding at 160 for over 5 years before this.

@ Ladyjane. I take Tricor and it has done the same thing to me as it done to you with Omacor. So when I see my doc here next month if it is still making them go up, i am going off the meds.
