Once again i am asking for a friend she is was on lipitor and has recently took herself off she didn't like how it made her feel.Well she swelled right up she gained 14 pounds Now a couple days have gone by swelling has gone down. She was at my house lastnight & had a drink of rye all of a sudden she started slurring her words and she fainted and lost control of her bladder and could hardly breath. We thought she was dead we called 911 they put and oxygen mask on her she came too but would not go to the hospital.Has anybody heard of this happening from Lipitor. Her blood pressure was very low at the time

" No, I haven't heard of anything like that. I was on it for 7 years and weaned off over a course of two weeks. The only good thing I can say about that nasty drug is that I didn't have any problems getting off. "

" I was on it for over a year. I had nightmares quite often. Hadn't had them before the Lipitor. Told my doc I wanted off! I'm now on Zetia, no problems with that so far. "

" It sounds like an allergic reaction to the rye, not the Lipitor. Something is going on with your friend I am afraid, is she on other meds too? Like maybe an antibiotic or soemthing? I took Lipitor for several years and while I had to go off it I never had any trouble like you describe but did have bad reaction to a drug called lamictal which is a mood stabilizer..also once to a antibiotic that caused me slurring and very drunklike side effects. Hope she is better today but she needs to be checked out at her drs or local clinic asap "
