saw the Dr yesterday....I was first diagnosed a few months ago and was put on Atenolol...now she has added Diovan...not the hct one...just straight Diovan without the diuretic in it...hopefully taking both meds will get my b/p down...it was 160/90 when I saw her...she took it twice..I also got a home b/p kit...so I can monitor my b/p on my own....do the 2 meds really work together ??...is anyone else taking this combo ?...I am totally frustrated that I can't seem to get my b/p down...

" Sometimes it takes a while to find the right combination to get your BP in check. Keep monitoring and hang in there. Sorry that I can't help you with these two meds, I'm on two other meds, but good luck. "

" I know how you feel, it is frustrating. I went through this two years ago, my Bp was very high. It took the Drs about 3 months and several combinations of meds before they got it right. Continue to monitor your Bp, eat healthy and take your meds. Your BP will stabilize, also exercise that helps. I know it is scarey, but you will be able to control it. I take two different meds for mine and my bp runs 114/63 now, which they say is in a good range. Good luck to you. "

" I am on toprol 100mg, and DiovanHct 160/???. Somedays it is just fine, and others it isn't. Like today, it has been 161/95, but if I go to the Dr. he will just up my meds, or something worse. on the days I go see him it is alright though. Mine does a lot of going up and down. "

" Hi Goof. I have a brother that takes 4 or 5 to keep his under control. It takes a while to get the right one that works best for you. I know that is probably confusing and frustrating for you but hang in there. They will find the right combo for you. "
