Almost every condition I have now, I'm told is weight related but I've never been given a diet (tho I know where to find them=ONLINE!). In regards to my spike in blood pressure which was caused by extreme stress, the doctors always want to give me meds but NEVER do they offer diet pills nor even a diet?! How is it that blood pressure meds, with all their side effects, are more readily prescribed when if we lost the weight with the help of diet pills, than we wouldn't need ANY meds?? Surely there must be SOME diet pill that isnt' that bad that could assist us in our reaching our weight goal as we all usually have been already struggling to lose the weight?!! Just seems we are setup for a vicious cycle??
Anyone know of any good diet pills? preferably natural? and that don't raise the BP? Posted on 07/27/07, 11:07 am |

I think why alot of doctors don't want to put people on diet pills is because it can lead to other health problems, like liver, or kidney problems. I am surprised that your doctor hasn't put you on a diet. Have you seen a nurtionist? That may help with choosing the best diet. Try to stay away from high soduim foods and alot of Fast Food places. Always check nurtion lables on foods and compare different lables. Alot of TV dinners etc. have way to much soduim and can elevated your BP. Try getting a low soduim cookbook. I'm on a Renal diet but, I can give you the www.davita.com website and they have alot of good recipes on there website. There is a booked called Cooking for David. It's a Culinary Dialysis cookbook but the recipes in it might help lower your bp and give you tips. I don't know if you can get the Book at Barnes in Noble but, you can probably look for it on amazon.

I had to smile at this one. My doc did offer to put me on diet pills (they are pretty expensive as they are not on the benefit scheme - which gives us "cheaper" meds) but I refused. I don't think that, on the whole, they are any good for anyone.
I wish I did know of something natural that will help lose weight, and keep the BP low. So far, even though many claim they do, I have not found anything I would be confident in putting in my body. But I am open to any suggestions.
