Has anyone experienced insomnia type symptoms, when their blood pressure gets high?
My doctor switched me from Toprol XL 50mg once/day, to walmart's $4 generic equivalent, 1/2 pill half in morning, half at night. ever since he switched me to that generic equivalent, I have been noticing insomnia issues, headaches, feeling like I just can't settle down. at first I thought ok, it must be something else, but when I had an appointment with my GI the other day, my blood pressure had skyrocketed to 137 over 100 which is high even for me. the toprol 100mg was keeping it down to 110 over 60, too low, so the doctor lowered me to 50mg, which then it was around that 120 over 80 mark where he wanted it, but my BP was doing so well on that dosage, and I had just lost my job, so he put me on the $4 medicine in hopes to save me some money, but my BP has been in this 130 over 100 range since he dropped me to a half a pill, and these headaches and insomnia and depression things have started, so I am going back to the doctor today to see his nurse practionier to see what she says, but i was wondering if any if these symptoms sound familiar? thanks Posted on 11/20/07, 01:11 am |

I too use to have this problem. A change in meds was the reason, had to go back to other then I ended in hosp. as I dehyd some times the cheep stuff is worse.

I've had the very same thing the past 3 nights. I can't sleep & when I take my blood pressure, it's 127/88, which doesn't sound too bad, but before the pill it was 157/110. It does dip as low as 91/59 (thought I was about to pass out & took it to see & found it that low).
Let us know what you find out.

taking off brand medicines sometimes have different dyes in them to cause problems for it to work well and most off brand ones don't work as well as the name brand ones do. if the insommia keeps up talk to your doctor about it.
