irregular heart palpitations

I'm taking LISINOPRIL-HCTZ 10-12.5 MG LUP, because of my blood presure. Occacionally, I have experienced the following side effects: dizziness, shortness of breath, and irregular heart palpitations. Now, I used to suffer from palpitations when I was in college and after a lot of heart studies, doctors told me it was stress related. After completing my first year of college, I stopped suffering from irregular heart palpitations, until last year. One day, I was leaving work and when I was planning to get on my car, I got this irregular and strong heart palpitation that I had to lay down on the ground for few seconds until it was gone. Then I freaked out and got on my car and drive to the hospital. During that time, I was getting irregular heart palpitations, but there were no bad like the firt one. When I got at the hospital, they took me immedialy to emergency. After a lot of studies, they told me that it was stress related, but they also noticed that my blood pressure was high. I was wondering if heart palpitations are normal, but if is also a side effect of LISINOPRIL. I'm really afraid of these heart palpitations.

" Puchales, you must trust the doctors on this one. Reading your story, it is obvious that you are panicking when you suffer these palpitations. Panic increases anxiety and will compound your palpitations. The next time you feel those palpitations, accept them and try not to panic (easier said than done, I know) Perhaps try a few distraction techniques (deep and deliberate breathing, focusing on some object nearby and describe it to yourself, etc)
Why do I say this? Years ago, I suffered from panic attacks although I did not recognise them as such at the time - the fear of impending doom you feel is so overwhelming. I cannot help you, but you will need to relax. If your heart has been checked, you are not about to die of some heart related illness. "
