Difficulty losing weight

Since I've been on blood pressure meds and an ssri, I have stuggled with losing weight and keeping it off for over the last 10 years. I take a beta blocker, alpha blocker, diuretic (2)types. I've gotten to a point where I'm tired of dieting, so I've been trying to eat as nutrionally as possible. Exercise is something I do moderately when I feel up to it, but I find that I get headaches in the evening when I exercise in the morning.

Is anyone else experiencing the same problems? I would greatly appreciate your thoughts!

" I read or heard somewhere you should exercise 4 to 5 hours before you go to bed.Weigh gain is a side effect of the high blood pressure meds.Iam no longer on meds,i'am treating my hbp with healthy diet,onions,garlic,beets...ect. and herbal supplements. It was 240/115 and it is now132/82and the weight is coming off, slowly but surely.Hope this helps.Hugs,Lisa "

" Aqua areobics has done wonders for me. It's excellent excercise but it at the same time is not too taxing. You might try it..... "

" I am new to bp medication/2 months on Toprol xl and it does lower you heart rate so you don't burn calories. I am not new to ssri's. I took Paxil for 2 years. I gained weight for sure. Only option is to eliminate one of the culprit meds, if medically possible. You could exercise at a different time to see if that helps. I exercise around 3pm but never closer than 3 hours before I go to sleep. Perhaps your blood pressure will naturally get under control with diet and exercise so you could come off the culprit pill. I was recently put on Lexapro..made me want to eat like a pig. I weaned myself off it with no problem but I had to substitute exercise (walking) to deal with depression. So far so good. Can't just eliminate meds that is for sure. But you can start getting more creative in how to deal with depression/hp by researching online like I have. Hope in time you will get better. "

" I've been putting weight on but I'd put it down to middle age rather than medication. I take Bedranol. I've only joined the support group and learnt something aleady. :-) "

" Unfortunately I can't stop taking my meds because my hbp is hereditary and I'll be on meds for the rest of my days here on earth. I'm not sure how I will do on herbal supplements and I'm afraid to take them. Thank you all for the wonderful advice, right now all I can do is remain prayerful. "
