The water issue

I'm gradually learning about the things we should and shouldn't eat and drink and one of the things I'm still confused about is the issue of which type of water is the safest for us to drink.

I know that regular tap water is bad. Is it okay to use a home water filter or purifier instead of bottled water? I've heard that the plastics used in the containers for bottled water can leach harmful stuff into the water too.

So what do you all suggest as far as safe drinking water?

I hope this isn't one of those topics that has been talked to death. I looked back aways in the older posts and I didn't see anything that really answered my question well enough.

" I use a local water filtration company which gives me the option of what kind of container to use when I pick up my water. I have a account where I buy 200 gallons at a time. Then I draw from this account until it runs out. It saves me money and the environment from all those plastic containers. They filter tap water but test it to know what they are starting with. Many times these are the people that notify the water district or city when levels are becoming to high in the water. The city quite often will treat this helpful call as a threat and try to scare you to keep you out of their buisness. They do not want anyone to ever know how high they allow bad levels to get before they will respond to what they consider dangerous. I am no way saying that they are doing anything wrong! What I am saying is our level of need for good filtered drinking water is much greater then what most "healthy" people or general public need... "

" I am with Mike; what comes out of your tap is not any different than what's getting put into bottles and sold at stores. I am talking about most city water, so there may be some areas where water needs to be boiled or treated to be safe. Those exception areas I don't know.

What's most important is that you are drinking enough when on tx, and that minimum is at least half your body weight in ounces. You can drink less but you will suffer with worse sides. "

" It's all the same. I drink bottled water in the city just because I don't like the taste of tap water there. But I still drink tap water at our place in the mountains because the tap water tastes really good there. I just get my water from a water store near my apartment. If it's after hours, I just pay 35 cents a gallon and fill up 5. I have my own container. With the amount of water we drink on tx (I drink 2 gallons of water the day after my shot and 1 gallon every consecutive day after that), we're really just keeping the system hydrated and flushed. We may be wasting a lot by drinking so much, but it is the only thing that really works consistently. The main thing is to not keep or leave any bottles(glass or plastic) in the sun at all. Even a warm car is bad. Just keep your containers inside and away from heat and the sun and you'll be fine. "

" I drink filtered water. some times I have to drink bottled water, some towns water levels are different, people should know about the water where they live ,,there some filters that will filter out specific things,,,the towns here occasionly give out reports and most munipalites will check out your water,if you bring a sample, I think it is an individual choice "

" Hi Mary-

I was told that we should be drinking distilled water. Now when I looked that up, it said that distilled water was water that was boiled and the steam was captured and made back into water. Now how in the heck are we suppose to do that? LOL!!

I agree with everyone on the bottled water, they have done many studies and have found some of the bottled water out there is worse than the tap water. I have a Brita pitcher that I put all my water through right now. I am going to look into a water purifying system. I heard those are good as well. "

" Tap water is ok. You have to be careful of the area and how they clean the water. Sometimes to much chorine is put in and makes it taste bad. Hard water is hard to take. I heard it is best if you can get it out of the fridge so it runs through the filter. Next is either either drinking water or spring water. Supposedly better but see the statistics here in these posts?? Do avoid distilled water. It is good for an antiocidant but for a short period. It actually absorbs nuetrients you need. Even if you cook with it. I

I drink water from my fridge and bottled drinkin or spings water. I like to keep it around so I can just grab a bottle when on the go. "

" I sent you a letter about the drinking water in Tucson Az. It has been heavily contaminated with TCE,PCE,Benzene, chloroform,Xylene and other cancer causing agents. Do not drink water from the tap because it is still CONTAMINATED!!!Especially if you live by the Tucson Int. Airport. People are still dying!! I grew up drinking the water for ten years and my whole family either have cancer or autoimmune illness. I go to my grade school reunions at the cemetary. Whole city blocks have been wiped out. Sorry, not trying to scare anyone. It is apalling. "
