Got my diagnosis at Easter time. I, too, am scared to death. It seems I'm not the only one who has no idea where this came from or how long I've had it. If I hadn't pushed, my doctor wouldn't have run the hep panel. Now I know I have genotype 1, the least responsive to treatment. My husband says I've read too much and am just scaring myself, but inquiring minds want to know.

I see the GI dr on the 27th. The wait is killing me. Trying to keep up a good front, but all my friends can tell there's something amiss. I haven't had the courage to tell them about this yet.

I suppose I'll get a liver biopsy and that scares me, too. there's nothing about this that's easy.

" WELCOME! My husband was diagnosed with geno 1 and I never heard that it was the least responsive but that type 1's may need to be on treatment a little longer than the other types.

Husband has very few sides (THANK YOU GOD!)and the HEPC was undetectanble after 5 weeks of treatment.

I know it's scary but you have come to an awesome place where you will receive alot of information, hugs and love

Shelly "

" Stopping the smokeing and what little I drink is going to be a challenge. I'm not a heavy smoker or drinker, but giving up the little bit can be as hard as giving up a heavy habit. I love red wine and champagne, but I love life even more. "

" I too used to like a little bit of wine now and then...but gave it all up for my love of Mr. Liver. Pouring alcohol onto your sick liver is like pouring gasoline onto a fire they say. Oh course finding out you have HEP C and all the stress & worry that occurs because of finding that out...makes you really want a drink for the stress. But you gotta choose your health
right...so farewell alcohol.
Having Hep C is not always easy...but so glad you found this site like I did. I felt like I was drifting alone on a raft in the ocean... now I am on a big ship with all kinds of kindred "hepper" folk...all going through the Hep C thing just like me. So welcome to our DS ship..come do the journey with us! "

" Welcome and I've been exactley where you are! I don't know how I got it, and the dr's can only guess, at best, how long I've had it because of all of my test results. May I refer you to a recent post on here just like yours. There are alot of helpful responses and I put up alot of links that might be helpful to you. http://dailystrength.org/c/Hepatit...

I read like crazy about the disease too when I was first diagnosed and my hubby had the same reaction as yours. But do know, there is still hope for you! Very few people die from hep c, it's very slow progessing and very individualized. Some people only get miminal damage. I'd like to invite you to my journal entry here at http://dailystrength.org/people/17... where I talk about my process of getting diagnosed and starting treatment. I am geno-type 1b, about to start my 28th week of treatment tonight and have been undectable of the virus since week 3 of treatment! See, there is hope! "
