Welcome. Don't feel like you have to tell anyone or everyone at all especially right away. Get as much knowledge as you can here and try to prepare some questions for your GI when you meet. You need to process this yourself first then it will be easier to tell others. Of course this would exclude a support system like a mother that you would want to know. Remember hepatitis c is slow attacking the liver assuming you have not had a major boughts with alcohol. Knowledge is power. Feel comfortable asking any questions. We all started somewhere and moved forward and share what we know.

Just wanted to say Welcome to DS and let you know this is a wonderful group for support and to answer your questions. I was dx in Feb. And I will be starting tx a week from Mon. Hang it there, it is a hurry up and wait type deal. But it will happen. Just be positive and get all the info you can.....

thanks for all the warm welcomes. I've been an independent SOB most of my life, but I know when I need help and this is one of those times. Thanks again.

Hello and welcome. You've definitely found a great website for support and for information. The people here are great - I'm pretty new here too and I'm still learning from everyone but I'm a lot less upset now than I was when I first got here. Sounds like you've already done a lot of research on Hep C and that will help you greatly. Hang in there!! As has been said before: it's a slow process and you will become accustomed to waiting. Stay positive and stick with us...we're here!

Hi and welcome. I was dx late march and also have genotype 1. The wait is agonizing, I know. Use this time to gather as much information as you can and make a list of questions to take in with you to the dr. Once you have all your facts straight it is a lot easier to inform people of what you have and what it means to you and them.
