I used to lightly pinch the area put the needle in a good spot and count 1 2 3 and push it in in 1 movement .Don't worry your get better at it,Ask the doctor to show you again and again till you get it right, no blood that what their for

It can't be that serious or they wouldn't trust 1,000's of of us inexperienced lay people to jab ourselves with a needle every week. Don't worry..I think my nurse said the worse that could happen if you did the shot wrong is that you could possibly grow a 3rd breast lol. Jeannie

That is funny Csick! I have my husband do my shots...he is better at all the detail stuff, and I have a hard time with RA and having enough umpgh to push and hold the dose button down. I had the shot in my thigh tonight to be different, and I felt a twinge of nerve shoot up to my hip....but it went away immediately. The main thing is you pushed the plunger down the whole way and waited for the meds to be pushed in. I sometimes have a drop of rx once the needle comes out...that can be normal too. Don't worry, you only have a ton of more shots left to do to get it perfect. Like they say, practice makes perfect! Since you had a bit of blood, you might show a bruise down the road, don't worry that is normal too.

I have done so many damm injections that the areas around my belly button are calised. My thighs too, I used my index finger and thumb to grab about 2"inch area and pused together and then I shot my meds,Soon as I stuck in I injected,released my skin and pulled the rig out, It'll get better for ya sis!!

I just have to say that the "third breast" comment by our lovely C-Sick was hysterical!!! Makes me wonder if the side for men would be an additional joy stick? (Oh the visual image of a 3rd breast and an additional joy stick is too much to for my eyes...lol)

Me, I was squimish all the way through tx. I actually fainted on 3 different occassions. Im glad its over but I would do it again if I had to.
I think If you managed to push the meds in..... even if you bleed, you got your meds.... just push pressure on inject site , be ready for anything ....
hmmmm....dont force needle in though ok , seriously if it HURTS... its probably a vein. your pinching... , right?
around tummy was eaier for me just stay a fingers length away from your belly button and you will do just fine . side to side sway that thang.....
I just rambled , sorry... but thats what I do .

We have small capillaries all over our body. So you are bound to hit them sometimes. Nothing to worry about though...Teri

hey girl, don't worry even after boyfriend doing 30 shots its still hard. He dreads it when Fridays comes thats when he does his shots. Every now and then they are not perfect some will spill out while injecting himself or bleed alittle bit. No harm done. As long as the needle goes in and you'll feel a lil pinch or two. Your still fine no matter how many shots you give yourself.

Yea I am not on tx but am an ex junkie and gotta say ElusiveLady is right there are millions of small capillaries but if you were to hit a main vein which can be hard at times(wont go there) LOL you will know it a whole stream of blood is going to flow back into your needle and if you were to pull the plunger back a little your syringe would just keep on filling up with blood like not a drop a continous flow of blood :) And the when you pull out of your skin you would have some blood coming out of injection site maybe a little probably alot. Just thought I'd add Hope all is well for you!!! I am happy to see you are getting through this keep up the good work!!! :D
