I have been putting this off for years, and dreading that my decision to start treatment would wind up hitting me with all the side effects that I was sure I would suffer. Well it's been 48 hours since I started my Pegintron/ Ribasphere and so far I am side effect free. I hope I will continue to be so lucky. Has anyone else experienced this lack of sides??

Yes, I am like you, very minimal sides, mostly just tired, and after injection I have not experienced any sides, but I do take a tylenol just to manage any ache or fever. I am so happy for you for tx being gentle on you, give yourself a pat on the back and count your blessings.

I am on different medication, but I have had no side effects so far. I am on Pegasys, a shot of interferon each week (180 mcg) and two 200 mg Ribavirin pills in the morning and two at night. I took the 12th shot last night.
If I would have thought it was this easy, I would have done this years ago. My life style has not changed a bit, and I work everyday, recently 12 - 14 hours a day. My Doctor said that just because I am not having side effects now doesn't mean they won't come later. Good luck on your Treatment.

They come they go. As tx progresses, everything just becomes "normal." The first 1-2 shots were the worst for me. Now, I just kick back for 1-2 days after my shot. Then for 5 days I feel O.K. Even when it's "bad," it's not that bad. Just a headache and it's like I don't really want to do anything. Just flush, flush, fliush. The water helps flush your system out making you feel better, faster.

It's funny how everybody starts out fearing tx. They hear the horror stories, and then their dr, rightly so, outlines all the crap that "could" happen. No wonder so many people run like the wind and put it off.
Anyways, tons of people have only a handful of the more common sides, and they are able to go about their lives as normal, if but a bit slower when fatigue sets in. Tx is DOable. I don't want to take anything away from the souls who do suffer terribly from some sides, so it is very important for you to know all the sides and the symptoms which would indicate a side that means you need to stop tx ASAP. There are some of them, so please take care in that regard. Now back to the minimal sides. I worked all through tx, ran my usual errands and did the usual chores around the home. My sides were insomnia, weight gain, no appetite, hair thinning, and dry skin. Also, I became a bit ornery because the sides annoyed me and made me short tempered. I may have had a few others, but because I can't recall them, I guess they were no biggies. The sides came and went at different times while on tx, like Billw said. They don't get dumped on you all at once, but will come along eventually as the meds build up in your system. Don't worry too much about it all. If something comes up, tell your dr as there is likely something you can do to lessen or even eliminate most of the sides. Ask the people here for their suggestions as well because as the saying goes: To know the road ahead, ask the man coming back.
