Has anyone had genotype 1a and did not take a year of tx? My doc told me to continue to take the tx but my viral load was so low at 470 something should i really need to take this for a whole year? I have to wait til i move to get a second opinion and it may be awhile, so i didn't want to stop tx and have to start all this over if the second opinion says i need to take it. kinda stuck in between a rock and hard spot. I just wanted to know if anyone had had my genotype and not did a full year and was cleared of the virus?

" I wish I had an answer for u, but in my case...type 1A--I did the 48 weeks of treatment. Went from a viral load of 6 million to undetectable. You may be one of the lucky ones that doesnt have to do tx. Some people do not have much damage to their liver and do not have to go in tx. In my case I was diagnosed in 1995 when I was using heroin interveniously. I shared needles with people who obviously had hep and I caught it. I turned jaundice and was hospitalized. I was too caught up in my addiiction to address the problem @ the time and in 1996 I went to detox and rehab. have been clean since May 1996 and it wasnt til 2007 that I decided to go on tx. A liver biopsy was my deciding factor in going on tx. I had considerable damage and without treatment I would eventually get liver cancer. Good luck on your journey "

" Stay on tx you are already on it. Put your whole head and heart into doing this and stop second guessing. This is a disease that you do not want to play with and If you have a chance to clear it forever then take it. "
