Hi All, I just joined the group today. I Found out I had HCV in fall of 2005, pick up the virus almost 30 years ago, I’m in stage 3-4, took treatment May to Oct. 05, rough time with treatment, six months later HCV positive. I figured I had a good 15 years left, took on life with all I had, was determined to make a difference in the world that I lived. One year later emotionally crashed, two years later still have not recovered. In the past six months my viral load has gone up over 10 million. I suffer from headaches, lack of concentration, low energy, unable to tolerate much sound, no music… That is my HCV past. I have a good life, thankful for what I have, but struggle every day.
Questions: Any suggestions about headaches, besides don't worry? Anybody have problems with tolerating noise, music... Posted on 05/09/08, 02:05 pm |

Hi and welcome. Sorry you didnt respond to treatment. There is some debate over which pain killers to use for headaches. My GI dr said up to 4 tylenol a day is ok. Some say tylenol is bad, use motrin. Another dr. told me to use advil. I am not an expert, but I think if you use any of them as directed you should be ok. As for your other problem, I have never been able to tolerate loud noises. Puts me on edge and very bitchy. I just try to stay away from it.

First of all.....mikeybythesea sounds really cool. It sounds beautiful there.
I do at times have a rough time with noise and headaches. I go into the bathroom and run a nice hot bath, and turn out the lights and light a candle. climb in and hit the jets. I am a pretty lucky girl and thankful for what God has given me (and my husband). Welcome to DS and I hope to support you in your journey. ~Rebecca~

Hi, Mikebythesea and family. Welcome to DS. Sorry you're having headaches. The ole'man's vl was up around 8.5 million, now down to 11K. He gets migraines but the doc says they're a separate issue. Is there any chance your headaches are a b**ch of a by-the-way with you, too? Just wondering if you should explore other possibilities like migraines, allergies, stress, etc. Hope your symptoms ease up. SIncerely, Skeeter & the ole'man

Hi Mikebythesea, and welcome to DS. I would ask the Dr on what to take for the headachs and how much. I have always been very sinsitive (sp) to loud noise. Sometimes when the head starts hurting real bad I get on my bed in my room and turn off all noise and lights with a wet cloth on my forhead and that helps alot. Good luck to you and God bless you....

Thanks for your replies, it feels good to talk to others that are experiencing similar things. My doctors have given varied advice on the headaches, not sure where they are coming from. Massage therapy has helped some. Time to get back to the table. I will check out the tiger balm. I will pass on your greeting to the family. Yes, Newfoundland is a beautiful province, rugged coast, sand shores and pebble beaches, but its no tropical island, 3C today.
Take Care, mikeybythesea

The tiger balm does work!!! I've used it for more than headaches too!! Do you take milk thistle? If TX doesnt work the holistics can help it from getting worse and in some cases decrease your VL and stop more damage.

Maybe it is something in your diet that you may be allergic too. My sister was always getting headaches and just 'yucky' feeling, no energy and she went to the doctor who did some blood tests. LOL She found out she is allergic to gluten. Now she is gluten free and can't believe the difference it has made in her life. For myself. I do the hotbath, candles, ect. I also use aromatherapy to calm me down. Try lavendar essential oil. Maybe a drop of it on your pillow may help, not to much as it is strong. Exercise, try calming music like sounds of the ocean? When i first got clean from dope in 2001 I was in an in-patient treatment center and night time was the worst. My thoughts would be screaming loud, man that almost drove me crazy, I couldn't fall asleep, my head was always pounding and one of the nurses gave me a headset with that tape and I used it everynight and would fall asleep like a baby. I focused on my deep breathing when I was listening to that and was out peaceful in no time :D
