Sides Early On

I am only into my third full day of tx and I gotta say so far, I am having a very easy time of it. First day and 1/2 just had headche on and off with minor minor come and go side and tummy ache. Also feel like a "sloth brain", like I'm in a fog.
Little extra tired and very thirsy, though I am drinking a gallon of water a day. So I was wondering what other peoples sides were like the 1st week and if they were easy like mine...and when if ever did they get worse? I am really beginning to wonder if there was any meds at all in that 1st shot lol. I would really like to hear what other peoples experiences were early on in the tx and what they are now. I know there are people getting ready to start tx...so I am sure there are a host of curious people out there. To me you guys are like the Hep C World Book Encyclopedia lol. Thanks Friends.
Hugs Jeannie

" i was just thinking about this this morning, actually. my husb's first week was probably his best week on tx. the first 3 days he felt like he had the flu and then he felt good for the rest of the week. i hope you will just have an easy time of it, but with my husb, as time goes on, it gets more difficult. i don't want to scare you or be negative, but by week 4 my husb's hemoglobin had gone from high 15's before tx to 9. he has said that if he had energy he could deal with all the other side effects. really praying that you will breeze thru this... " I'm on shot #7 and I've been the same way so far. The first couple of days after the first shot I had a headache & was tired. But I haven't had any noticeable sides from the shots since then...it's a lot different than I expected!

With the riba, sometimes I have sides and sometimes I don't. The main ones I've had are agitation, heartburn, nausea and anemia.

I'm not sure if things will change as time goes by but I'm hopeful that the sides will stay this manageable. Take care. "

" It is very good to know that many of you are getting on with treatment with better feelings than you anticipated...though I know it's not fun even at that.

Keep up the great work!! "

" heya hon. Done shot 5 today. My sides have been very varied. Shot 1 was the worse, had an allergic reaction and my skin swelled. It was gone the next day. 1st week or two, only minor sides. Over the last 3, i have had new ones, nothing to major, fatigue, insominia, flu syptoms, sweats and chills, migraines, stomach aches and depression. Mainly the lack of sleep and tiredness, make things look worse than they are. Really glad your doing well so far. Oh and memory loss is really not good. "

" My experience was similar to yours. I am doing week 23 tonight of a 24 weeks program. Some weeks were definitely more difficult than some, and I found the pills caused more sides than the injection.
I was able to find many good solutions to manage sides so if you need any info let me know, also do you know about the hepcsurvivalguide.org? Excellent for managing sides. Best to you, a good attitude is the most important and it sounds like you have that, best of luck. "

" I think the first week is like an introduction - body, meet tx. tx, meet body. You two are going to be getting to be best friends.

The first shot was the only shot that was very hard on me. After that, none of the shots were a problem. A mild bit of flu-like feeling the next day, then I was fine.

The sides don't usually happen near the start of tx. Instead, they come on with time and as the meds build up in your body. Some sides may take months to show up - I never had any hair loss at all till about the 4th month of tx, for example.

Just be sure to drink your water, and if you are drinking enough, you should still drink more. A healthy person should be drinking half their body weight in ounces of water every single day, so you should be drinking even more than that because your sides, like aches and headaches, will lessen if you are drinking plenty of water.
