If you're having long term side effects, please let us know what is happening. I have a friend Tiger who has to quit Tx after 44 weeks because it was killing him. He lost all his teeth, but still has the roots. He's going to go to New Zealand to get his teeth replaced, it's lots cheaper there than here. His hair turned white, most of it fell out and he lost 50 pounds and he wasn't fat to begin with so now he's emaciated. The virus, type 1A, came back in 3 months, so he's disgusted. He said if he had the choice to go back and do it again, he would not do the Tx.

God...I haven't started treatment yet, so this sounds terrifying to me!I need my last 17 teeth...

Lost every filling in my mouth during my first round of treatment, hence those teeth have broken, crumbled and or cracked. I'll have all my uppers pulled when I finished this round of treatment.
I lost 45 pounds my first round of treatment. Put 20 back on before I started round 2. I lost 3/4 of my very long hair during my first round of treatment. I had "latent" rheumatoid arthritis before I stared round 1 of treatment (genetic in my case as my mom had it also). 2 months before I finished round 1 of treatment RA became active. My thoughts .... I can live without my teeth and can deal with dentures, I can live without my hair but it does grow back, I can live without the extra weight, and although painful and sometimes debilitating, I can live with the RA. I cannot live without my liver and that is why I chose to attempt treatment again. I am 16 weeks into my second round of treatment and will be doing a total of 72 weeks this time. I did 48 weeks the last time and relapsed 5 months post. I have a stage 3/4 liver, severe fibrosis, extensive bridging, and 50% necrosis. I have no regrets for trying this again. Mouse

I DONT CARE WHAT DOCTOR SAYS ABOUT SIDE EFFECTS AFTER TREATMENT!!!!!!! YOU WILL ALWAYS HAVE LONG TERM SIDE EFFECTS! I STILL DO! I DONT WANT THE NEWBIES TO BE SCARED BUT ITS THE PLAIN AND SIMPLE TRUTH! YOU ALL KNOW ME, I'LL DO ANOTHER ROUND OF TREATMENT IF IT WORKED. BUT AT THE SAME TOKEN IF I KNEW THEN WHAT I KNOW NOW ! I WOULD HAVE NEVER HAVE DONE TREATMENT ! BUT KEEP THE FIGHT GOING NO-MATTER WHAT!!

I am 1a also..and this is why I am not doing treatment. I have heard too many horror stories from those that have done it and not had a SVR. BUT they have other serious damage to their bodies..I am so sorry for your friend..please give him my love..as he is a brother. I never discourage anyone that is thinking of doing treatment..BUT if asked I do advise them to really read , and educate themselves before taking this step.

Please educate yourselves. Don't just go on treatment because the doctors are scaring you, and don't decide not to do treatment because of this discussion! Read, ask questions, there are lots of books out there. I have several. Like Herbs for Hepatitis C and the Liver by Stephen Buhner. He has hep c and is controlling it with the things he describes in his book. Date night! Happy weekend!
