Anal fissures and hemmorhoid

What is thee best treatment for them? I don't have medical insurance this month. It will kick in next month.

I've had the fissure and hemmorhoid for about a month and I do sitz baths every night which helps some. I sit on a donut in front of the computer, but I don't know if that helps or not.

I read somewhere that someone used Carmex lip balm on the fissures and that helped.

Thanks for your help and advice in advance.

" I was in so much pain that I finally went to the doctor. He recommended that as a women not have surgery for the fissure. The results are no longer being able to control the bowels. It is worse in women than men. it took 2 years and it finally went away. It was gone for 2 years and the pain is now back. Diet, baths and time are the key. Nothing really helps much. But I sympathize with you! "

" Thank you!! I heard that eating roughage (popcorn, nuts, seeds) can cause internal irritation and straining and sitting for long periods of time are some of the causes of outside irritation.

My brother uses nupercainal. It helps him. Plus, stool softeners.

Sometimes, it feels like (sorry, this is so graphic) my anus is swollen, but it's not red.

I'm 47 and so I suppose sooner or later I was to get one. Never had a rhoid before not even with babies.

I had colon cancer 4 years ago and it sometimes scares me that my intestines are not healthy again. No bleeding in stool or after wiping, but ya know how the mind wanders.

Thanks again, so much! "

" Roughage actually helps things smooth out for me. Because straining is what tears them open. But they are the worst and only those you have experienced the pain can really understand. I understand being worried. I haven't had cancer but my dad had colon cancer. I have all of the same issues he did while getting older. So it weighs on my mind as I get older.Good luck and stay healthy! "

" I don't know if what I deal with is an anal fissure, but I thought that I would ask and see. My symptoms are my butt region sorta sweats and it feels very uncomfortable when I sit down. I use little wipes during the day when it gets so bad that I feel like I am wet back there. The other very exciting and fun part is that there is a smell that I try to deal with so other co workers don't smell it. I hate dealing with this. I try to stand most of my day which helps. There is a little blood when I go to the bathroom I noticed yesterday. I have increased fiber in my diet and cut out coffee, it seems to be doing a little better. There is zero strain when I go to the bathroom now which helps. I just wanted to ask you all if you have ever dealt with this. Thanks for your help. I hope you all continued health. "

" Hi time4changes,

I haven't had the sweating, but I've heard males complain about that before. Alot of them have used wipes--the ones that you can buy in the grocery store---to keep clean and dry and also to cure the odor.

My hemorrhoid has gone away so far (YAY!)....i just kept taking sitz baths every day and using Preparation H wipes and Nupercainal really worked for me.

Plus, I'm more active now and don't sit as much.

Stool softeners....they help a bunch!! And also, there is a fecal blood test that you can buy in Walgreen's drug stores to test if there is any blood in your stool.

It's called "EZ Detect". It's an in home test for any kind of colon disease. I've taken the test and it worked for me. Of course, it's not like the ones the DR's use, but it could let us know if there is any blood in our stool and that we need to go and get that checked out.

I worry about that because I had colon cancer in 2003. So, I check on that often.

Hope any of that helped for you:) "

" time4change- this sounds like a fistula rather than a fissure. fistulas actually allow for drainage to escape and is both internal and external, whereas a fissure is more like an internal tear. "

" Time4change- What you are describing is not a fissure. Ktisme is correct a fissure is a tear and the symptoms are very different than what you are describing. Good luck, I hope things calm down for you soon. "

" Hi, I was suffering from anal fissure myself and was also looking for some home treatment methods. I tried lots of things and I found some useful information on this page - some tips here are really reasonable and worth to try - they helped me:
