im 27 and have severe hem A. My lil bro has it as well i do martial arts and have played sports all my life and wanted to tell all the moms and peole out there treatment is a great way to live a normal life. Im also covered in tattoos as well. My point is be postive gene therapy is almost here and treatment on a routine is a great way to have you kid enjoy life. Dont put them in a bubble it makes them more fragile and thy will actually get hurt even more.

Hi, I think that you have given a lot of people hope and encouragement. I want to ask with you permission could you share you perspective on this disorder with me. Im a nursing student doing a thesis on children and nurses role in help manageing this disorder. If that is ok with you I don't have to use your name. I would greatly appreciat it.

You rock! I also took the same path. My Dr's told me not to snowboard or play softball and I continued on with life... sitting out of ball games with nose bleeds sucked but I was thrilled to play! When they told me not to snowboard I hit it harder! :P and I also have a tat :D.... I agree... I choose not to live in a bubble... that isn't living at all....

You are correct that current drug therapies are safe and efficacious, helping patients lead normal lives. But gene therapy is not right around the corner. Check out what's in development at pharma/biotech companies. It is more likely there will be alternatives like less frequent infusion, subcutaneous injection, inhaled or oral choices) than gene therapy any time soon.
