Does anyone have arthritis brought on by the hemo? My wrists have been hurting for a while and now my shoulder, especially with the pulling motion.
Thanks
Mike

" According to the literature arthritis is one of the joys of the hemochromatosis. My right shoulder and lower back are a continuous pain, now my wrists and ankles are starting too. "

" I'm a 37 yr. old male who was diagnosed about 5 months ago with a ferriton level of 1558. Arthritis was my first symtom which I fought with for about 10 yrs. before they figured me out. Every joint has been effected except for my hips. I thought it was weird that I had so much arthritis at such a young age. I thought it was because I was in so many sports in high school. Right now, my main joint pains come from my hands and feet. Most of which happens in the morning. I wake up with a burning throbing pain in both my hands and feet. They tell me it is from the iron deposits in the joint that cause the pain. I would assume that it is kinda like throwing sand on to a bearing surface causeing friction and wear and tear. I have already had 3 knee surgeries on my left knee and need minor surgery on my right. I don't know if they are related or not but I was told that there was a lot of arthritis in both. Unfortunately, I've heard it doesn't get much better after treatments, maybe I'm wrong. At least mine haven't. Good luck! "
