Hi all! I'm a new member and love this site. I am 21 and have hemochromatosis. I was just curious at what age is typical to be diagnosed? Also, once diagnosed, what are you supposed to do? Are there any multivitamins that don't contain Iron? I have been taking either Over 50 vitamins or children's Flinstone ones that don't have iron. Any thoughts?? Thanks so much!

I was 36. It's been 11 years.
There are vitamins that don't contain iron. Usually you can find them in natural food stores or at vitamin places online.

My husband was diagnosed when he was 51. He was diagnosed by accident. He went to a new doctor with me and my new young doctor took one look at my husband and said he thought he know what was wrong with my husband. He did a blood test, and made the initial diagnosis, then sent out another blood sample for genetic testing. It was confirmed.
