Hi, I just joined this community after searching through google, I need someone to be able to talk to after my heart attack, and have nobody I can talk to. My wifes not interested, she told me she wished I had died when I had my heart attack (but thats another story)No, she's not a very nice person.
I had a heart attack in june 2007, I had a sten fitted. I seem to be doing OK, but sometimes I get scared, and wonder how much longer I have to live.
It's not a nice feeling as you can imagine, but I am doing all I can to reduce my risk of another heart attack, I've quit smoking, lost weight (10lb) I eat much more healthy, oily fish 4-5 times a week, I love fish so it doesn't bother me :-))
I exercise every day by taking a brisk 30min walk wearing my heart rate monitor, I get my heart up to 120 bpm when walking so it is getting some exercise.
I have lowered my cholestrol from 10.6 to 4.3.
And also do relaxation to help with stress etc.
so there we are. hope your all ok
best wishes

" Hi Voyager and Welcome!
I'm new here too, but I'm sorry you too have the need to find this board. I haven't posted on here yet, so your the first for me.

My husband had a major heartattack July 10, 2007 he had 4 stents put in 3 blockages. He's doing VERY WELL!

I've am a Lung Cancer Survivor AND now I have some major heart problems. I had a rare tumor called a Myxoma in my Left Atrium and had it removed in 2003, it came back in late 2005 and I had it removed at Mayo in MN (where we live) in Jan 2006. When I had that surgery they did a double buy pass on me as well. Now I am dealing with Major SOB (shortness of breath) do to Mitral Valve Leak and a blockage and all the other happy hooha that I've been dealing with over the last three years. I had radiation and chemo 12+ years ago when I had my lung cancer, and they are telling me now that I have a LOT of radiation damage.

Enough about ME!

I'm so sorry you don't have anyone to talk to. I can't imagine not having my hubby not care about me, but then again I do understand what your talking about, because I've seen many others go through that as well.

I'm know your scared and it's not easy to just jump back into life thinking things are going to be peachy and rosie, BUT, give yourself lots of time to heal, emotional and physical.
It's not an easy road, but with support and information it sure can make the road a lot eaiser and less stressful to know your not alone.
Best Wishes,
ConnieLB "

" Hi ConnieLB
Thank you for taking the time to reply to my post, My goodness! you have been through the wars, but to survive lung cancer is a very major achievment, well done to you, you have done very well indeed. I would imagine with todays progress in medicine that your Mitral Valve Leak will be soon put right for you.
Thank you again for your reply, it's nice to know someone, somewhere will listen, thanks x

" I know that I can't possibly imagine what you are going through. However, in some ways I understand the depression and the feeling that life can be pointless, the fear that it can end at any moment, etc. Due to my sister's recent death, I find it difficult to move forward. Because she was my best friend, I also have no one to talk to about these emotional issues.

However, working through your physical problems often helps with the emotional. I began exercising more regularly and eating more healthfully as well. You seem to be tackling that problem well. Tackling the emotional problem may be more difficult and tricky; however, much of that will heal with time and with the ability to discuss it with someone. I'm sorry that your wife is not as sympathetic as you need, perhaps, you can find a support group in your area? Otherwise, this board seems like a nice enough place. :) "

" Hi Voyager.
I was on my way to work when I got a slap in the face. I had had two heart attacks one on Monday Oct 8, 2007 and the big one October 10, 2007. I have also had a stent put in. I to am scared, I ate right, exercised, didn't smoke, but this is a heart diease which had been passed on to me by my mother, I have already lost a brother in June, 2007. I was almost next.
I get deeply depressed, I am still not well enough to go back to work, I still have major health issues going on with my chest, shoulders neck and arm, all of these after I had my seconf heart attack. I have been working since I was 13 years old, and I am not use to just sitting around, but right now that is all I am aloud to do. I have really bad days, when bill collecttors call and get me upset two or three times a day, I just wnt to die then. Mt husband is the greatest thing that ever happened to me, he seems to be there all the time, he even calls me from work to check up on me. I would love to cht with you, and please never feel you are alone in this situation, there are plenty of us out there. By the way Welcome aboard. "

" Hi, I too just joined. Want to say, hang in there, it does get better. I'm sorry your wife is , well, not very supportive. Not that I'm saying, dump her, but, I have found that I have very little time to waste on people who are not true friends. Altho, I do know some people, act as if they don't care, because they can't face the possibility of losing some one they care about. If you care for her, there is no time like the present to work out some issues. If you don't realy care for her, what are you hanging on to?? You need to think about what your priorites are, and get to work on them. One of mine should be to learn to spell better. I had all my problems at the begging of the year, and am doing so well now, I work on getting back into shape, and spending some time every day, doing somthing just for me. You deserve to be happy and healthy, you deserve to be surrounded by people who care about you. And you deserve to endulge yourself just a bit. If you'd like to know about, just read my journal entry, pretty much sums me up. Hope to hear from you. "

" Hi Voyager,
Sounds like you are doing all the right things to maintain your health and prevention of further heart disease.
Now, that you are taking care of your body, you need to work on your mind. Like feeding food and exercise to the body, we can also feed the mind with positive thoughts. This is where you need to focus at this time and shut out all other negative thoughts which can further poison your body. Live for life and all it has to offer, you have this choice.
