" Nice to meet you. I don't have a severe hearing loss yet. Mine is only about 5 percent right now but with the tumors on my auditory nerves, the expectation is that my hearing will deteriorate more over time. Can I ask about your hearing loss ... do you have a profound hearing loss or less? My friend has a profound hearing loss. She is about 98 percent deaf but with hearing aids and reading lips, she functions pretty well. But you know I am sure how tiring that can be and how difficult it is to interact in large groups of people. "

I'm a mum too, developed tinnitus 14 years ago when the kids were junior school.... now they have left home, and I'm learning to live with + a hearing loss now in both ears...wearing 2 aids... but manage a part time job, running the home and living normally.
I joined a few weeks ago the deaf and hearing loss and tinn group, lots of lovely people on here to talk too.

" Hi, I have profound hearing loss due to medication I was given while sick a few months ago. While taking the medication, I woke up deaf in both ears one morning and have not heard much except low rumbling vibrations and constant hissing tinnitis since. I'm in the process to see if cochlear implants would help me. Hearing do not. I am learning to lip-read and use paper and pen, or the computer to communicate. Love chatting online with my friends since I can't use the phone. "
