**OKAY, so I was on birth control for 3 years. Had no periods... I didnt like it so I stopped. I was on the shot. So now its been a year since Ive been off and Im getting my (semi) regular Monthly Visits back. From what I remember, I awlays had light periods that lasted like 9 days... now however Im having HEAVY flows that last like 3 days... it SUCKS cuz Im so tired, cramping, ect... Any advice on how to ease the hassle? Its not always a problem but today I started and its REDICULOUS! im in class almost bend over in cramps! I know they say take Midol, but Im broke till monday and I ran out of my pain killers (I have some vikadin left at hime, maybe ill take that) ANY other womanly advise here though? Maybe some foods that help, or whatever..
PLEASE!?!?! lol My overies would thank you!

" I have horrible periods that last for not 3-5 days but more like 2 weeks. When I am totally broke I use a heating pad if I am at home. That works the best. I know mine is getting ready to start ARGH I HATE IT,cause I am normally completely out of it for 3 days at least. good luck. When you have cash stock up on midol and those thermal patches for cramps. They are like portable heating pads and I live on them during my time. "

" Have you talked to your doctor about it?
My daughter is very irregular (she has maybe 4 periods a year) and they are very painful and very heavy. She has a cyst on each ovary and the only relief she can get is to stay on the pill..Not saying thats whats going on with you but I would let my doctor know since it is a big change for you..
Other than that heat usually helps.Take a long hot bath before bed.Use heating pads or just a washcloth with hot hot water.. "

" Hmm well chocolate usually helps me, but I have heard that anything with caffiene actually makes cramps worse for most women.

I usually curl up with a heating pad. not one that you plug in but one that you put in the microwave and it has beans or corn in it that retain the heat. If you make one yourself you can make it look like a pillow and take it anywhere :-) "

" Sounds like your body is trying to catch up on all those missed periods. If it continues like this, I'd go to an GYN. Try heating pads oh and limiting caffeine. That's what helps me the most. Hope this helps. "

" Heating pads. If you do not have one fill an old sock with rice and nuke it in the microwave for about two minutes. Works just as good. Try a little bit of booze. like a shot. That sometimes helps. Mishka. "

" If you have Advil or Motrin that will help. Just don't take Asprin, it will make the flow heavier. Drink warm things. ie. decaffienated tea, heat up some apple juice, or any beverage that you wouldn't mine drinking warm. Stay away from caffiene. If you have a hot water bottle that is the best because they aren't dangerous to sleep with. You really shouldn't sleep with a heating pad.
A glass of wine helps.
Having your Honey gently rub your tummy will help.

I hope you feel better soon. "
